Diamond Lake Day 2

Day 2 Headed to the lake this morning around 9am ,Fixed the water heater.( turned the circuit breaker on) Boy was I a happy camper. No electric shocks or puddles of  water. We went into Newport  for some brunch munchies and a little grocerie shopping for the forth. The day has been beautiful and relatively quiet around here. I am sure things will start livening up this evening with people coming from work for the fourth. We picked up some great steaks at Masons meat shop down the road. And had a quiet BBQ 4 2 :) Now its time for a little walk about Click Here for more Pics  The sage will continue .

Off to Spokane and Diamond Lake for the 4th of July

Once again we are off to Spokane. This time for the long awaited Fourth of July celebration on Diamond lake. Got a late start today 1:25pm. But that turned out as an unexpected bonus. The dirve and the lighting were all together different than we are use to. On of the first  noticeable things was the water level on lake Cachees. I have not seen it so full in years if ever. The fields in eastern Washington were still very green with all sorts of crops growing. We arrived in the Spokane area around 5:30 only to find out the Maple street bridge was closed so after snaking our way through downtown and the neighborhoods we arrived at Marys at 6pm. Then had a nice dinner outside with Isabel and a covey of quail.

Adam DeLeo's Virtual Birthday Party 2008

We went to Bill and Robin's to celebrate a Birthday Party for Adam (Virtual) Adam was in Alaska fishing. We held the celebration at Adams Pound. Followed by a BBQ. Adam would be happy to know that his fish are thriving . It is hard to imagine but Bill got in from Sydney the day before and Everett arrived from Sydney that day. How they did is totally unknown to me. The party did not breakup until after 11pm (very late for old people) We had another great BBQ by Bill (chicken wings and Korean ribs. The deserts were provided by Vicki Hall and Barbara. As usual they proved just too good to pass up!  I don't want Adam to worry. Due to it was Adam's Party I practiced catch and release.

Recap (Homeward Bound)

Everything went without a hitch. Hard to relive but true. At the moment Anita and I are winging our way home on Alaska airlines. No problem getting on and again we have seats togeather.
  Last evening we did the obligatory game of pinochle  followed by a great BBQ tir tip. Jeff and Michelle stopped by on their way home to wish Jim a happy father's day. This morning started out with some last min computer assistance. Then Jim drove us to the airport where we said our last goodbyes. Now we are enjoying a smooth flt home without a cloud in the sky. Melissa and Bryan are happily married, Ardie can once again don his shorts and tennis shoes and the rest of the family can go back to their daily routines til the next mass Zimmer migration. Hopefully the PDX Zims are enjoying their vacation in cabo

Wedding Day

After a good nights sleep we loaded into our cars and the whole Zimmer clan met up at Kevin's some one hour and 3o min away. Had a few laughs and freshened up for the Nuptials. Then it was off to the Church in hopes everything would go off without a hitch. "It DID!!)

After the ceremony. We all headed off to the reception dinner and celebrated the couple. When the reception ended is was back to Kevin and Di's place for a recap and nightcap. About 10:30 or so Jim, Karen, Jackie, Anita and I squeezed into the Zimmer car and started our trek back to Woodland.

All in all one GREAT day was had by all.

Melissa's Big Day 6am

Good morning. It's Saturday the 14th of June 2008! That means it's Melissa Zimmers big day! At the moment I am the only one up as usual. This is a good thing as it is MY time. I am sitting in a confey recliner with a hot cup of fresh coffee and my buddy (the laptop) enjoying the peace looking out over the pool at CasaZim. Yesterday was filled with the action of getting ready for the ZimBQ. There were Zimmers  coming from all directions. Steve Michael, & Liz from Portland. Steph and Tony from Seattle. Jackie from Phoenix, And Jeff and Michelle from somewhere here in the flat lands. 
  

	Good Morning Cessna and Patty. Followed by a little morning excersize for Cessna and Tommy. Finally Jackie and Karen putting the last loving touch on the salad for the ZimBQ.

Well things are starting to stir. Anita just poured her first cup of coffee and is heading out to the pool area to start her day. I had better join her .

The journey begins

It has gone very smoothly so far. Got to the airport early as so to relax. While checking out the facilities we ran in to two differnt nabighors Carolyn McHue off to Kentuckey and Brian Foot off to San Jose (Small world) Once again we scored on an exit row on Alaska flt 366 bound for SMF. Actually we have an empty seat between us. Life does not get much better than this.Now its 12:14 and I just heard the power cutting back which normally means we have about 20 min until we touch down in SMF. Its about time I put this computer back to sleep for landing.

After a smooth landing in Sacramento (SMF) We stopped by a great little eatery Swabbies) I can only describe it as a On the river biker/river people bar with great munchies. We had some fish tacos that were the best and ate in  picnic area on the Sacramento river.

After a couple of stops. Costco and a grocerie store we headed to Casa Zim in Woodland . The rest of the day was just spent hanging out with Jim,Karen,Patty & Cessna. Did a BBQ a little more visiting and then off to the sack.

Off to California for Melissa's Wedding

Its Thursday  morning and we are getting suited up for our trip to California for Melissa's wedding. The above picture is from John Deleo showing his Summer home. You can check out his Blog on the left column of this blog (Rambling On).

Well our bags are packed and I got to run Back soon with more of the wedding adventure.

Sunday Things are slowing down

Well it's Sunday evening and things are starting to return to normal. After a great brunch at the Davenport hotel generously provided by Steve and Liz who took off from the hotel to the airport. We returned back to Mary's. Ardie and Rosa took off for the lake and Karen went back to her mother's Now  we are hitting the leftovers.

This morning Steve and I ran out to Diamond lake to spend the morning with Jim Ardie and Rosa. As predicted Ardie was in hot pursuit of the ever elusive trout. The morning was excellent, Warm sunny and still. the neighbors were all there

Gone Fishin

Friday the 30th. Today was the memorial for brother Bob. Even more than expected well over 200 people came to say good bye to an old friend. There were many stories and the one thing that stood out. EVERYBODY than knew him LOVED him! I can never rember a time when we went anywhere Bob did not excuse himself for a moment to go say hi to someone he knew. People were what Bob was all about. If you ever entered a room of strangers with Bob. That only lasted a short while he immediately out and about introducing himself. And wanting to know just what these people had to say. At first I thought he was trying to sell them a car, But I was wrong. He just wanted to know them.

We will miss you !!!

The day before Bob's Memorial

Today was spent hopefully getting all the ducks in a row. This evening the family started showing up around 5pm. Jim and Karen, Followed by Steve,Liz,Ardie and Rosa. And finally Steph. After a dinner and family chatter, around 9pm Karen headed of to her mom's, Ardie Rosa and Jim up to Diamond lake and Steve Liz and Steph off to a local hotel.It's now way past my bed time and everyone is tucked away. So Good Night All.

Getting the lake cabin ready

Got up this morning and headed to Diamond lake to get the cabin ready for guests. The first order of business was getting the water turned on. I was the plumber while Anita attended the cabin housekeeping. After getting quite dirty crawling around under the cabin I took the opportunity to take my first dip in the lake to retreive the missing dock anchor chain. Burrrrr! but it really felt good. The neighbors  Sue and Judy stopped by for a visit and to offer help. What great ladies.  They are one of the reasons I love to go to the lake so much they sure make Anita and I feel like part of the Diamond lake family
      This evening Tim and Becky arrived and were picked up by Lisa. They  then came over for some burgers and BS.

Spokane Fall's Photo shoot

The water was raging from this years snow melt. Took off around 8 this morning and drove down to check out and get a few Spokane Falls photos. The drive was so worth it! Also drove down to Riverside State Park and checked out the Bowl and Picture. It was a great morning to be out and about. The weather was perfect and the traffic was minimal. Mary and Anita are spending the morning tending loose ends for Fridays gathering of the family for Bob's Memorial. At the moment Clemmie and myself are just hanging in the house.

Of to Spokane for Bob's Memorial

We got underway around 8am heading to Spokane to help Anita's sister Mary out preparing for Bob's memorial on Fri May 30th. Had a good drive over. We arrived around 12:30pm. Mary's good friend Pat was still here after spending the last week helping Mary with Bob and giving her a loving shoulder to lean on.

Baby Geese 2008

Well it's that time of year again. Baby this's and that's appearing all the time. Here almost one month after the first baby ducks I just spotted two families  of geese. The mergansers should be showing any day now so stay tuned to life on lake Sammamish

 

Taking Virginia Lacy back to SEATAC

We Met Vicki and Virginia at Steamers in Tacoma. After a great lunch (fresh halibut fish and chips) We headed for Virginia's hotel near SEATAC On the drive we stopped of at the Weyerhaeuser  Park. The picture above was taken at the bonsai exhibit. It was a great day spent with a great lady.

Mothers Day Trip Day 2

Da Boy's Getting ready to head out for Breakfast before Anita and I continued on to Portland. We had a GREAT breakfast in Gig Harbor Then continued on from there to Portland (a 2-1/2 hr drive) Stopped bye grandma's and took her out shopping. Then it was off to Steve's where we rustled up some steaks on the barbie an some good conversation. It's now Sunday morning and our plans are lunch at the home with grandma and then who knows what.

Mothers Day Trip to Shelton KeyCenter and Portland

Off this morning around 0930 on trip to Portland via Shelton and Key Center for Mothers day. Stopped off and picked up brother Bill and then off to Shelton for lunch dominios and a good visit with our good friends Vicki and Nanook. Mikes mom Virginia was down on a visit from Cordova Alaska. A great time was had by all. With full bellies and all the coinage from the domino game we headed back to Bills for a nights sleep before heading off to Portland Saturday morning. At the moment I a unfortunately wide awake (too much coffee during our heated game of dominions) but it does give me a chance to get this recap of this adventure started.
